A few of my stories some started in class with writing prompts, others on my own.

Eulogy of the Luminids or Archie Smith, Boy Wonder
A tiny voice asked itself, “Is he the one?” The owner of the voice smiled to himself and eagerly looked around the corner at the sleeping boy. The voice’s voice caught in its throat as the boy turned in his sleep, making unintelligible snuffling noises. As the voice whipped back around the corner breathing heavily, the once sleeping boy stirred from his slumber, responding to a noise only he could hear. Throwing back the covers he walked the few short yards to the bathroom. As the boy passed the voice’s position, it decided this was not yet the time to reveal its existence. After a few minutes the toilet flushed, and the boy reentered the room still groggy. The nameless voice stepped into the boy’s path and ignited to his full brilliance. The boy’s eyes flew open as he jumped back, his mouth moving like a dying goldfish. After the initial fright he squinted at the scorching light, moving closer to examine the small flaming entity. The five inch creature somewhat resembled a lizard in shape, but looked and walked more like a humanoid. The creature stood still for a few more seconds, continuing to burn as he hung suspended in space, hoping to let what the boy was seeing sink in.
The boy stood amazed as the creature spoke, “I am Olymos, and you, Archibald Leroy Smith, have been chosen.” Archie wondered where this strange dream or possibly an even stranger reality would lead. Olymos released his cloak of flames and bathed the room in darkness, leaving Archie blinking away the spots in his vision. Olymos continued, sparks accentuating each word, “My race, the Luminids, had great power but were few in number. Even fewer after The Plague, and fewer still after a recent battle that tore our small Island apart.” He only glowed dimly now having shut away the memory. He began again, almost in a whisper, “The only remaining Luminids are in The Council, consisting of five members including myself. We were a vain little group, not allowing women into the ruling body. That was the fatal shortcoming of The Council. Unable to continue our line, we are past the danger of extinction. We are a dying race.” Fully extinguishing his light, he went on, “The Council has come to the decision that instead of being erased from the planet completely, we shall transfer our power and all the knowledge we have gathered, to a human. We believe that this will at least allow our race to be remembered.”
Archie nodded somehow knowing inside himself that this must happen. Words, almost not his own, formed on his lips, “I am ready.”
The Luminid smiled in gratitude. Lifting his staff, he directed the point in the boy’s direction. As he began chanting in his own language, his very aura burned; dimly at first but building to a searing brightness. Archie covered his eyes and missed the other but no less intense motes of light drifting through his open window. Olymos became a small sun as well and joined the last of the last of The Council, in their final careening dance around the boy that would come to wield the awesome power of the Luminids. As the motes sped with each revolution around Archie’s body, he felt a tingling warmth spread over him. Finally the compact stars careened into his body, he cried out as the warmth became an almost unbearable heat. He felt something, and then all was dark.
If one would have looked through the window of Archibald Smith’s secluded cabin at precisely 1:34 A.M., one would have seen a strange sight indeed. On his bed where he had fallen, as he lost touch with reality, Archie Smith, the boy wonder, was on fire, but he was not harmed.
