~Chapter 1~
Jessica Criss
I followed my class off the bus and into the big red building. Welcome to the ZOO signs were everywhere. We all lined up by the front gate and got a ticket, a map, and the rules. We had to stay in groups of at least 3 and meet back at the front desk in 2 hours. Two hours of freedom. With animals! How much better could you get? Well, riding horses in the country with my best friends, but two hours alone at the zoo was close.
Chanel, Dimond, Britt and I were all in a group together. We went to the penguin palace first. The penguins were cute, sliding around on their stomachs and all.
“Chanel, can’t you read? It says employees only!” I yelled at Chanel when she about when back behind the cages.
“I know! But look at the cute penguins! I want to go pet one! Or even be in the cage, or, toss a fish to one! Come on you guys! We’ll only be in for a bit.”
“Chanel Bailey!” Dimond screamed, “If you go in there I will be forced to do something I don’t want to do!” Dimond ran over to Chanel, “Come with you!” Chanel and Dimond ran into the back of the penguin cages with Brittany hot in pursuit.
“Britt, Chanel, Dimond… Promise we will only be in for a minute? Wait you guys!” I ran off after them. We slowed down to a walk and went around to a bucket full of fish labeled, penguins. Deciding not to touch the dead fish, we just went back cage.
“This is when we leave guys…” I said to them, “Uh, Chanel, what are you doing, we should be leaving…” But Chanel was not leaving. She was staring at a gaping hole in the side of the wall.
All at once the hole began to form into what looked like a bubble. It then started to move, in and out, in and out. In a flash of light, the bubble turned bright purple and then went clear. Not showing the other side of the wall, but a forest, green and luminosity shining from all its corners.
Startled, we all stood still. Slowly we started to move toward the bubble,
“Jessica, stop moving! Dimond, Chanel! Try to stop moving!” Brittany shrieked at us. But we couldn’t! It was like an invisible force was pulling us to the bubble! Once we got to touching distance of the bubble, our world became a bright white, and everything disappeared. Dimond, Chanel, Brittany and I were thrown into the bubble, and everything went black.
